Just had to post this one…
What a stunning couple!
Sneak peek from an amazing baby bump session with Deanna and Yomi.
We shot the whole session on the beach in Miami and it was tons of fun. The amazing outfit Deanna is wearing was … made by her! How epic is that?!?!?!
So did you see the “shoe” shot? Well… notice that side-by side there’s a shot with baby’s shoeprint next to daddy’s shoeprint? Well… you’re going to have to wait for the full post to see how amazing daddy’s and baby’s shoes look next to each other ๐
It was such a pleasure to work with you guys. Anyone who sees the photos can tell that the camera loves both of you (can’t imagine how adorable the little one will be) but we got to see how nice and helpful and kind you were, and that’s a gift your little one will enjoy even more.
Sneak peek from a fun engagement session with Villardia and Jermaine.
We started off at the Morikami Museum and Gardens which is a great place to shoot, but it would be so nice if some of these places would have extended hours at least once or twice a week!
We finished the session on the beach, but of course you’ll have to wait for the full blog post in order to see shots from that ๐
Now you see that last photo?ย Same photo twice, one next to the other, right?ย Think again!ย It’s actually a reversed stroboscopic three-dimensional photo.ย Yes, a 3D photo.
In order to see the 3d move about 4 feet back from the monitor and focus your eyesight at a point near your face (some people call that “crossing your eyes”, though it’s just what happens naturally when you focus up close) you will see the two images above shift until a third forms in the middle.ย That one will appear to be a completely realistic 3D image.ย Once you “got it” feel free to move in a bit closer to enjoy more of the details of the image.
We were contacted by Lily for what sounded like shooting a first communion in Miami. We’d never done that before, weren’t sure it would line up with our business (we’re Wedding photographers who also do some family photography) but for the most part we try to keep a “can’t hurt to try… and then decide if it’s something we want to pursue” mindset.
Thankfully follow-up chats with Lily revealed that she was indeed familiar with our work and was looking for a few less formal than your usual formal communion photos of her older girl and then have her change into casual attire and transition into a family portrait photography session.
Now that’s a plan we can easily sign up for! Bring it on!!!
We met at a local park in Miami and spent a couple of hours having a great time photographing Lily, Richard and their two adorable little girls.
Here are some of our favorites from the session:
Ok, and now an exclusive peek into how we roll…
We often hear from fellow photographers who are TERRIFIED at the idea of shooting children. Hum… ok, let me rephrase that… they’re terrified at the idea of “photographing” children he he he.
Of course this is a piece of cake for us for two reasons:
1. We have three delicious little ones of our own
2. They are BY FAR the hardest photographic subjects in the known universe (with the exception of black holes, which I hear cannot be photographed) because they know EXACTLY how to drive daddy and mommy up a wall (we don’t photograph as well when we’re up the wall)
At any rate… here are some tricks we can share on how to have a fun, productive session that involves children:
1. Child labor may be frowned upon by your local laws but if you do it really quick and don’t blog about it later complete with incriminating photographs you’re good: (here you see the youngest triggering the flash herself with the controller in her hand)
2. Art director? We don’t need no stinkin’ art director!
3. Promise the children something totally ridiculous. For example you could say something like “Ok, if we can get those two last shots I will then sit you on mommy’s lap, give you my camera and let you take photos of me as I roll on that patch of grass right there, like a crazy person” … now obviously I’m not the kind of dummy who would make such promises…. ’cause you know… they WILL REMEMBER and they WILL look at you with the same look the traffic court judge gives you when you plead NOT GUILTY and they will say “YOU PROMISED” … but you know… I’m just sayin…
Lily, Richard, thank you so much for trusting us with your family portraits. You can see the full set on our proof site. Click the link and then go to the Portraits area.
Many thanks go out to my friend and fellow photographer David Pun who was in town on his way back to New York from a Caribbean destination wedding. David came out with me and helped me during the session. The second communion photo up in the blog, and the two photos with me in them are his. Thanks David!!!
One of our largest engagement session posts ever. We had SO MUCH FUN with these guys and managed to get so much variety in the setย that I just couldn’t bring myself not to share all of our favorites ๐
We hope you guys enjoyed your vacation and that you’ll enjoy seeing these now. Engagement portrait photography is one of our favorite things to do, and when the clients are as fun to work with as you it’s doubly so!
Of course you’ve probably seen a few of those in the sneak peek.ย The complete set is uploading to the proof server as I publish this.ย ย It will be available by clicking here and then going to the Weddings area.
Had an AWESOME time photographing and spending time with a great couple down in Miami a couple of weeks ago.ย I thought I’d start the set with a silly “look at us play supermodel” because this couple was so much fun and had such great chemistry that I figured I’d start with something silly … obviously decided to complement the over the top expressions with some very inย your face over the top processing ๐
The engagement shoot started at Virginia Key Beach.ย I’d never been there before and it was quite the treat to see all the great photo opportunities hidden there.ย Where do we start…ย ok let’s see:
Gorgeous people amongst the vegetation:
more gorgeous people, vegetation… and FLARE!
peek-a-boo… I see you ๐
orange, orange, everywhere! …. and you know I like my orange right? ๐
a change of outfit and a quick stop back in the “jungle” part of the beach…
and then off to the beach itself…
Back into the previous outfits and off to another location for some sunset photos….
and dancing with the moon
a quick change into eveningwear and the engagement photography session moved to Lincoln Road in South Beach.
We saw this cool elevator with a glass back and decided to take some playful shots with that…
after shooting from the front of the elevator we moved to the back where we shot quite a few “caught while otherwise distracted” shots ๐ย Here’s one we turned into a panoramic sequence
and here’s one that was super-steamy…
Now the thing was that due to the speed of the elevator and how dark it was I had to prefocus the camera and basically wait for them to appear out of nowhere and take the shots…. of course we had a few surprises… for instance this one time they were supposed to go by while wrapped around each other like pythons in love (if you found this page while searching for information about the reproductive habits of leg-less reptiles don’t blame me, blame google) but instead they showed up with a family:
and of course they played their own jokes on me as well… behold… SuperGeorge and WonderJosie!
Once we were done with the elevator we headed off onto Lincoln Road where we found a few nice spots to shoot in…
Josie and George,
Thank you so much for being the awesome people you are… I am so glad Joe put us in touch (Joe you rock man!)ย I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in May… Josie, you’re going to be a spectacular bride and George… well you’re already on heck of a lucky guy so I guess you’ll be a lucky guy in a tux ๐
You can see the rest of the photos on the proofs site
I close the set with one of my favorite photos ever:
